#LetsStepInside – Shakti Fest: Laugh, Move, Play and Open Your Heart…Shakti Fest is a 3 day yoga & kirtan retreat with lots of workshops in a gorgeous natural paradise at Joshua Tree Retreat Center in California. May 15-17, 2015
Shakti Fest is a celebration of the Divine Feminine that dwells within all of us. The devotional path has its roots in yoga, kirtan music and meditation. It embraces ancient and modern sacred wisdom and traditional and non-traditional spiritual practices. The festival is a vehicle for the evolution of human consciousness through a heart-centered revolution.

The goal is to help people get in touch with and open their hearts through their practices. It is held on or close to Mother’s Day and in the warmth of the desert, the high vibration of the sacred site, the invigorating and alive food, and the chanting…the experience is unforgettable.
Joshua Tree is a little town in the high desert, the only place in the world that the unique Joshua Tree cactus grows. The popular national park is noted for its rock climbing and is a mecca for artists and musicians…a place for creative souls to commune with nature and spark their inspiration.

The retreat site itself is an ancient sacred site of the local Morongo Indians. Shamans have located 18 vortexes on the site and even for the unaware, the powerful energy is apparent and intoxicating. The site includes a labyrinth and architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright and his son.
The grounds have been groomed with grass and gardens, surrounded by the gorgeous gathering halls. The main sanctuary houses world class kirtan performers from around the world, including Jai Uttal, Donna De Lory, Saul David Raye, Govinda Das & Radha, DJ Drez & Marti Nikko, Jaya Lakshmi & Ananda and many more.
Yoga happens outdoors in the cool mornings and moves indoors during the day. Teachers from a wide range of yoga traditions grace the schedule – Shiva Rae, Mark Whitwell, Yogi Cameron, Sara Ivanhoe, Hemalayaa Behl, Kristin Olson, Ren Rasa Yogamaya, Erika Bukhalter, Saraswati Markus, Laura Love, Brad Brockbank….so many more…

The workshop experience is very breath oriented and includes a lot of meditation techniques. There are some very popular weightloss clinics, there are healing workshops for exploring deep wounds with Michael Brian Baker and Tantra with Dawn Cartwright. Mirabhai Devi brings Restoring Harmony with Nature and the Divine Feminine, while Syamarani brings Krshna Consciousness. This is just a taste of the vast array.
Most remarkable is the highly charged energy. In the vibration of the 18 vortexes, practicing yoga, breathing, meditation and lots of chanting – eating the radiant and alive food, the experience is intoxicating and invigorating…a total recharge.

Of course, in this rejuvenating event, there is time for long walks or hikes in the rare and unique natural park or a dip in the pool to cool off from the heat. Some of the most exquisite shopping is offered in the vendor village and the healing village offers reiki, massage, ayurvedic and other modalities to enhance your renewal.
