Although Illumination Gathering 2014 was a great success, we have determined that the outdoor version of this event will be on hiatus this year. We plan to return in 2016.
In August 2014, professional thieves stole our production trailer with almost all the supplies required to produce our event. While we are insured, the time and effort required to rebuild this mobile production resource is considerable.
Then, on New Year Eve we learned that Tidewater Falls, our event venue, is not available for rent this year (they’d love to have us back, but are having zoning issues with the County). As you might imagine, finding the right venue for this type of event is not easy and cannot be rushed into.
In addition, the core Illumination team has been understandably distracted by both the birth of a beautiful baby girl (Zoey Ananda Berger) and new, enormous responsibilities in fighting the corporate privatization of Portland’s public water infrastructure.
That stated; we are interested in producing indoor drum/chant/dance journeys in Portland until we find the right outdoor venue and rebuild our production tool/supply inventory. We invite suggestions for potential venues, both indoors and out.
