Just rollin..in from OCF….what a great week!

The sun was a luscious 80 every day and people were all smiles. It was a STELLAR year in spite of some heavy losses with friends passing…a plane crash in June took 4 fair family, and the shooting in Seattle in May took 2 more…but folks chose to celebrate life in their names…… The center of attention was Zeus and Andy’s Blue Sky Rainbow Calendar – what a feat! Zeus is a Mayan studies master and Andy is a wiz at Sacred Geometry…the Calendar mystically has 366 sides, and each face is marked with a day of the year and a mayan symbol for that day. The dates of the year spiral around one facing side at a time – red first, then orange, then yellow, green, blue and purple. The entire thing spins and the colors pass through a rainbow spectacle of wonder and delight. Its all made of blown glass….
Seeing the rest of the fair, with 18 stages, there’s no shortage of performances to make you smile and great food around every corner. We mustn’t forget the 350 booths full of the finest bohemian handcrafts in the world – and the wandering entertainment on stilts or in giant puppets, or just amazing costumery.
The kids were busy one upping each other. The big attraction – 4 OCF raised young men, masters of circus arts and martial arts… who wow us all with their troupe called Nanda, were spoofed by 4 boys about age 8 or so…calling themselves the Little Nandas, and the girls had the same idea with a group called Wanda…
High summer couldn’t be better….and OCF being the mothership…event producers from far and wide were there to play! I saw the creators of Harmony, Beloved, Burner representation, Moisture Fest, Reggae on the River, Trinity, Illumination, Hempfest, oh…and so many more….lots to chat about, the festival scene is having a heyday, with new shows cropping up and depth, meaning and purpose becoming more and more prevalent.
I’ll have to write more later, I am weary! The long and winding road takes its toll!
